The Waiting Game

The Waiting Game

It's just gone 15.50 and I'm waiting for our Season 19 boxset to be delivered by a well-known retailer. I've updated the app so many times now I've lost count but the delivery is no closer. Apparently the driver has a few more stops before he gets to our address, having earlier been in Waterloo, which made us picture Napoleon and Wellington arguing over their favourite Davison story.

Where's the Kerblam! man when you need him?

But it has given me chance to think about last night's episode of 'Doctor Who' and the fact that there is going to be a year's gap between the New Year special and the start of Series 12.

And you know what? I don't mind. As the lovely Jenny Shirt said last night, at least there will be a Series 12 and if we have to wait a little bit longer for it, then so be it.

If it means that all of the main cast are returning then I'm fine with that. I have seen various musings online as to why there is going to be a gap year and unless it is disclosed by either the BBC or the 'Doctor Who' production team then we won't know for sure.

But my guess would be to keep Bradley Walsh and perhaps Jodie Whittaker in the cast. A gap of a few months before starting the next lot of filming will allow them to do other things and keep them fresh.

And we perhaps forget how gruelling the filming schedule can be. Series 11 was from November 2017 to August 2018 and that's a long time not to see your family or to be able to do other things. Or in Bradley Walsh's case to be filming 'Doctor Who' and also recording editions of 'The Chase', which must have been exhausting.

In the meantime we have the New Year Special to look forward to and the possible return of an old enemy.

And we are planning to restart watching Matt Smith's last series, if only we can remember where we got to!

I think we might have just start from 'The Snowmen' and go on from there. It is Christmas, after all.

As for last night's episode. I really enjoyed it, but more about that in our video which will appear later on today.

(Oh and another 'Bless Me, Father' book was delivered by our hard working postman today, so that should definitely be the full set)

And my parcel's just been delivered. Thank you Kerblam! man.
