Episode 22 update

Episode 22 update

It was a bright sunny day yesterday and Warren turned up about lunchtime in a sort of yellow top that seemed oddly familiar. Still can't quite put my finger on it, but then he tends to get all ticklish at that sort of thing.

We got into the mood by watching some videos on the Ashens YouTube channel about old computers, and Warren was most excited to see a ZX Spectrum and a Commodore 64 up close for the first time in ages.

But this was only a taster as we had three editions of 'The Computer Programme' scheduled that took us on a dizzying ride through sweet shops, a GP's surgery, Hampton Court maze, a blacksmith's forge and the clearing bank system. We certainly know how to party in this house!

The bloke that was fixed on growing computerised cookies ("COOKIES!!!") was an instant hit, as I knew he would be and it turns out that he's one of the few people I can do a passable impression of! So look out for that in the article...

We found we had a lot to say on the subject of 80s computers and it's a mix of mild mickey-taking as to the style of the show along with a fair bit of nostalgia for old games plus a sprinkling of history, always a subject close to Lisa's heart.

We, of course, had to look at the 'Look Around You 2' episode that focussed on such computers as the highly-intelligent Bournemouth and the Petticoat 5, which was designed for ladies.

With all the research (that's what we call it!) required, this took up most of the afternoon, so after a quick trip up the road to Chopsticks House (highly recommended) it was time to refuel in preparation for 'Whodunnit? : Future Imperfect'.

We already knew this episode, but Warren had never experienced it before and it was amusing to see his jaw hit the floor from time to time as some of the things that were said during the course of this story.

Bernard Horsfall is saddled with a ridiculous wig and costume, but whatever his opinion of the material, he's still being totally professional. It's slightly weird to see Magnus Pyke and Lindsay Wagner sitting next to each other, but they're both taking it seriously, or as near as one can get.

In fact, we've now got every article recorded for Episode 22, so for once we're decently ahead of schedule. We've got to do the introduction and links, of course, but it's nice to feel we've got time to breathe when it comes to the editing.

We even had time to do a quick video before our guest had to depart.

Still can't place that yellow top, though...
