Bless These Contributors

Not time for a long blog post today, as Warren should be coming round shortly and we're aiming to do as much recording as we can.

On the menu are at least two episodes of 'The Computer Programme' (finally!) and one of the odder episodes of 'Whodunnit?'. We hope the one we've chosen will provoke some interesting comments in reaction - we're pretty sure we'll be laughing our heads off at certain points.

It's a nice day here, so hopefully there won't be too many people mowing their lawns in a loud fashion, but you never know! Being aware of the problems this sort of thing can cause, we only have our lawn mown when it becomes absolutely necessary, so that we keep our disruption of other local podcasts to a minimum. At least, that's our excuse!

Our e-mail has been quite busy this week, with lovely pieces arriving from Paul and Martin. We won't spill the beans on everything, but we can announce that the Shy Yeti himself has done a piece on 'Bless This House', having treated himself to the series boxset. He also casts his eye over the film version, which he's noted could almost have been called 'Carry On Suburbia'. There were quite a few film adaptations of 70s sitcoms, with variable results, but this one sits in the memory as being one of the better ones.

Running a monthly podcast, you do start to identify with John Nathan-Turner's concerns about how much should you let your audience know in advance. You want to get people excited for what's coming up, but by the time the episode is released, you don't want them to feel they've already heard it.

And when we're in the fortunate position of having a choice of things to put on the next episode, there's some juggling you have to do as to which bits go together well, or could be released later.
The plan this time is to have five voices (me, Lisa, Warren, Martin and Paul) which is a nice range of styles and hopefully provides something for everyone.

But we can't sit around here all day typing. We've got slightly wobbly copies of 'The Computer Programme' to watch via Lisa's tablet, YouTube and a Google Chromecast.

Although what Mac would make of that use of computers, we dare not imagine!
