Tell Your Friends!

Tell Your Friends!

When we do our videos, we'll sometimes do a gag about waving to someone who probably isn't watching, but we may have interacted with at some point.

But we are aware that as soon as you put something online, there is a small chance that it might be stumbled across by someone who may have been involved with the production. If we're feeling particularly brave we might flag something up to an actor or writer, but usually we're too bashful to go around spamming people willy-nilly.

So it was lovely today to receive some very kind words from Kevin Davies about our look at his documentary 'More Than Thirty Years In The TARDIS'*, which we dug out for 23rd November 2018 instead of more obvious things such as 'An Unearthly Child'.

I don't pretend to understand how YouTube flags things up for people to watch and it's obvious from our limited data that our 'Doctor Who' videos are seen by more people than anything else overall.

However, there are some interesting anomalies outside the 'Doctor Who' stuff, with older things still getting a small but regular audience. The odd natter about such fare as 'Are You Being Served?' or 'Steptoe & Son' often show up in our daily figures, which reminds us that this stuff is always new to someone, despite having been recorded months ago. Sometimes this snowball effect can take a while to get going, but it's fun when it happens.

One of our hopes for 2019 is to build a wider audience for our sofa-based nattering and it is true that there's only so much we can do without a major poster campaign. But if people do like what they've seen, we're led to understand that positive interaction is what the algorithms are looking for.

So, Kevin's comments have already bumped the piece up a little - and you can even see it in the live figures today, which is interesting.

So don't forget to Like, Comment and Subscribe as the old saying goes. It was a nice Christmas present to see the subsciber numbers get into three figures, and though 1000 still seems a long way away, it's not impossible with some judicious button-pressing.

Even if that does sound a bit 'Vengeance On Varos'...

But don't forget to tell your friends - especially if they worked on something we enjoyed.

We probably waved at them at some point and it would be fab if they waved back!

Oh, and that nice Mr Davies might be amused to learn that we have started on 'Blake's 7' this month... :-)

*Even if YouTube managed to mistake the word 'TARDIS' for 'chalice'...
