“Books and Stuff!”

“Books and Stuff!”

One of the things I really enjoy doing for ‘Round the Archives’ is research.

For one thing it allows me to buy and read even more books.

One of the more unusual subjects I have researched was Bess of Hardwick; a fascinating woman who lived a long and interesting life. Married four times, she outlived 5 monarchs.

Then there was the research on The Flying Squad for the article on ‘The Sweeney’, that revealed a car chase worthy of ‘The Sweeney’ that happened in the 1930’s.

I’ve also bought several annuals for research purposes, including ones for ‘The Herbs’, ‘Angels’, ‘The Sweeney’ and ‘Adam Adamant Lives!’.

When we were researching ‘The Herbs’, I bought a copy of ‘The Complete Herbal’ by Nicholas Culpeper, which was interesting but not altogether helpful.

We also watch numerous episodes of whatever we are going to talk about, which can be great fun or a bit of a chore.

Even when we think we know a series inside out, we’ve always found that there is something more to learn.
